October 29th 2015 was a joy filled day for us (Jijo, Lijo, Jomon, Shijo and Sijo) because we were ordained as deacons by His Excellency Mar Sebastian Edayanthrathu. It was the fulfilment of a long awaited dream. Once again the fidelity and faithfulness of God has been manifested very evidently. Our hearts are filled with gratitude to God for the blessings and graces granted to us to be his servants in His vineyard. It was a memorable ceremony for us, because it was well planned and celebrated meaningfully. Mar Edayanthrathu challenged us to be real servants of Christ and to have an intimacy with Him and to His Word without expecting any reward. We are indebted to all the confreres and our family members for the care and love they have shown us with their presence and prayers.
The liturgical celebration began at 7.00 in the morning. Frs. Joy Poonoly, Vackachan and Sijo Velledathu concelebrated with the bishop. After the Holy Qurbana all the newly ordained deacons cut the cake and all the confreres sang ‘Vivat’, the traditional Redemptorist’ hymn, followed by a grand breakfast. At this juncture we have only one word to say to God and to all, that is, “Thank you !”.
