This is the time when a candidate gets to know the community and the community gets to know the candidate. They take part in all the daily prayers and activities of the community and attend classes to enlarge their knowledge of religious subjects including Scripture, Catechism, Church documents, Theology and Redemptorist spirituality. Thus they are guided in making the gradual transition from the lay life to the life of the novitiate The word “postulant” may not be new to us. It comes from the Latin word postulare, meaning “to ask” – a postulant was originally one who made a request, hence, a candidate. Today the word “postulant” refers primarily to a person asking for admission into a religious order and “postulancy” refers to the period of time preceding one’s admission into the Novitiate. We have six postulants under the able guidance of Fr. Binu A. at Edoor Community and the support of the community too.
