First Holy Communion and Confirmation in Auckland

Auckland: The Immaculate Conception Parish, Ellerslie, Auckland had a solemn reception of First Holy Communion and Confirmation. There were 60 children in two groups to receive these sacraments. Patrick James Dunn, the Bishop of Auckland, New Zealand came for the Confirmation ceremony. The Confirmation for all the boys and girls was together where as we had First Holy Communion in two groups. The Church was full. There was a large turnout, including children, their families and relatives, for the special Mass at Immaculate Conception Parish, Ellerslie. There were obviously many people who did not normally go to church. Bishop Patrick said to the children: “Receive Communion often, very often, there you have the sole remedy, if you want to be cured. Jesus has not put this attraction in your heart for nothing.” It was a day for the hunger for the bread of God, the flesh of Jesus Christ himself. They longed to drink of his blood, the gift of unending love.
