The Icon is delivering the Gospel, in visual form. An icon is a place to receive grace through faith. They are powerful sacramentals, intended to transport viewers into a transfigured world, to plant that transfigured world within us, to bring us face-to-face with a living presence and change us. For this reason, icons are viewed and handled with prayer and profound reverence. An icon of Mother of Perpetual Help is handled and kissed as reverently as if it were Mother of God, because the icon is a window making Her present to us. St. Mary’s Church, Marian pilgrimage centre, Nagapuzha had an exhibition on the OLPS in the Church compound during Novena days in preparation for the feast of nativity of Mother Mary from Sept.1-8. Novena to OLPS began here in 1960. It was a new experience for the devotees of Nagapuhza and surroundings. The exhibition helped the faithful to have a better understanding of the Icon. It was a spiritual dinner for many of them to meditate and reflect. People were very much interested to know Mother of Perpetual Help more and more. A Big applause to Fr. Baby Verananickal and the team.
