“Through this School Retreat I came to know and experience the one, true, God who loves me, though I do not belong to the Christian Religion,” this witness of a 6th standard student alone was enough to feel fulfilled in conducting the Retreat for School students at St. Peter’s School, Clayton, Melbourne in Australia.
It was my third mission journey to Australia with Marykutty teacher for ‘Christeen Retreat – 2016’. Usually we conduct retreats at different centers for Syro-Malabar children of the Melbourne diocese. Unlike last year, along with these retreats we were also invited to an Australian School to conduct a retreat. It was graceful to see students from different nationalities, religions, cultures and all walks of life participate in this School Retreat as one family. It was the first ever religious program conducted at the school and around. We sang, danced, played and above all prayed with children which was a really unique experience for both students and us. The retreat was a great success. It is evident in the words of Mr. Jaison Garathy, the Principal, “The five hours of retreat time were just flying and I myself felt spiritually nourished. I will tell other Principals of different schools regarding the impact of such a deep faith formation and spiritual enlightenment through the Christeen Retreat”.
I thank God for this enriching mission experience which is indeed His dream, to open up new possibilities and areas through which He can save souls. Let us continue to pray and strengthen each other to move forward to save souls and establish the Kingdom of God on this earth. “And I will be with you always to the end of the age” (Mt 28:20).
