Superiors meet of the Province of Liguori, India – August 2019

The superior’s of the Liguori Province gathered for their first meeting of the quadrennium at Liguori Bhavan, Mattoor on August 10, 2019.  The superiors of the different houses of the Liguori Province gathered together to discuss about the community life and ministry of the Province.

The meet began with Rev. Fr. Biju Madathikunnel C.Ss.R., the Provincial superior, thanking all for accepting the offices. He reminded that the animation of religious lives has become a challenging task in our times. He assured the Superiors that their contribution to the administration of the Province is very vital.  Fr. Provincial informed them about the decision of the Joint EPC of the three units in India, on the ‘Common Ration for Formation,’ Common missions at Palwal, and possible joint ventures in Youth and Media Ministry.

There were two input session in the morning and evening respectively. Fr. Provincial presided over the first one and the latter was led by Fr. Poulose Thettayil C.Ss.R., the Provincial Vicar.

Fr. Provincial reminded the group about the Missionary Priorities of the Province – Family, Youth, Migrants and the Materially poor; and about the Apostolic Priorities of the Province – Parish Missions, Social and Media Ministry. He pointed out that the social and media ministry are essential in the future of the congregation.

The final session saw discussions on the Formation, Personnel, Apostolate and finance of the Province, based on the Pastoral Guide for the Superiors of the Congregation and the Communicanda 2, “Revitalizing our Vita Apostolica: the service of leadership in the style of Jesus Christ.”

The different roles of the Superior and Rector as pastor, animator and administrator were presented by Fr. Poulose. He briefed all on the necessity of Team work and Communication, Community Prayer, Concern for the Sick and elderly, Fraternal Corrections, Importance of community meetings, Administration of temporal goods Finance.

The new Motu Proprio, “Vos estis lux mundi” regarding new procedures for reporting abuse and violence and the obligation for clerics and religious to report the abuse was also taken for the discussion.
